Parent Association Board Positions

PA Board Positions

PA Board Ambassador Representative Roles

These roles are open to parents of returning students. The Ambassador Programs help new domestic and international families feel welcome and connected as they settle into the LFA community.

  • Parent Ambassador Representative – Domestic (Two individual representatives or two couples) - Help recruit parent volunteers to serve on the Parent Ambassador Committee and partner with LFA to guide and support volunteers in welcoming new families to the LFA community.
  • Parent Ambassador Representative – International (Two individual representatives or two couples) - Seeking parents with either international experience or who are currently living outside the U.S. to communicate with and advocate for our families abroad. Representatives will connect with international boarding parents and serve as signatories on select engagement emails or invitations. Preferred: Representatives with experience related to LFA's top countries of enrollment.

Ambassadors are eligible to serve on the Executive Committee.

PA Board Class Representatives

Class Representatives will partner with the Advancement Department on communication and outreach to parents within their child's class. Class Reps help arrange "Class Coffees" on campus during the fall semester and help organize an off-campus coffee or social gathering during the spring semester. They also may choose to arrange a virtual parent gathering in the winter for parents who are not local or for those who cannot attend a weekday class coffee. 

  • Class of 2026 (Two individual representatives or two couples)
  • Class of 2027 (Two individual representatives or two couples)
  • Class of 2028 (Two individual representatives or two couples)
  • Class of 2029 (Two individual representatives or two couples)
     

Class Representatives are eligible to serve on the Executive Committee.

PA Board Liaison Roles

Liaison roles partner with designated LFA administrators, faculty, and staff.

  • Admission Liaison (One volunteer) - partner with the Admission Office to recruit parent volunteers to engage with prospective families at admission events such as Open House, Accepted Student Day, and New Family Day. Offer feedback and ideas on admission initiatives and events throughout the year.
  • Athletic Concession Liaison (One volunteer) - partner with the Athletic Operations Office to recruit parents to manage Concessions during selected home games.
  • Athletic Liaison (One volunteer) - partner with the Athletic Operations Office to recruit team parents for each athletic team.
  • Faculty & Staff Appreciation Liaison (Two individuals or two couples) - partner with the Dean of Faculty to coordinate thoughtful gestures of appreciation for LFA faculty and staff throughout the year, including during National Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
  • Fine Arts Liaison (One volunteer) - partner with the Fine & Performing Arts Department to promote student performances and shows and help share volunteer opportunities for parents to provide treats and meals during rehearsals.
  • *NEW* International Student Host Liaison (One volunteer) - partner with the Dean of Students Office to help recruit hosts for our international students during their time at LFA. Hosting opportunities may include inviting students to join an LFA family for meals, holidays, and celebrations, or welcoming them into a family home over school breaks (Thanksgiving, winter, and spring).
  • Multicultural Liaison (One to four volunteers) - partner with the Dean of Equity, Pluralism, Inclusion, and Community (EPIC), to advance EPIC initiatives within the LFA parent community. 
  • Stuart Center Liaison (One to two volunteers) - Partner with the Director of Service Learning to support two school-wide service events in the fall (Project Pumpkin and Fall Food Drive), and plan and participate in one Parent Association service event each semester.
  • Student Life Liaison (1 volunteer) - partner with the Dean of Students Office to help coordinate and promote class lunches, end-of-semester treat days, and pre-prom events, and to help arrange support for boarding parents during Welcome Weekend.

Liaisons are eligible to serve on the Executive Committee.

PA Board Philanthropy Roles

Philanthropy volunteers partner directly with LFA's Advancement Office.

  • Academy Fund Co-Chair–Parents Division (Two individuals or two couples) - Partner with LFA to promote the Academy Fund (annual fund) within the parent community and support fundraising initiatives throughout the year.
  • Gala Co-Chair (Two individuals or two couples) - Serve as a spokesperson for LFA's annual Gala (held each April), encouraging attendance and support for the featured special project.

Philanthropy volunteers are eligible to serve on the Executive Committee.

PA Board Outreach Roles

  • Parent of Alumni Representative (One to two volunteers) - seeking parents of LFA graduates to help coordinate outreach to parents of alumni.
  • Parents Association Volunteer Coordinator (1 volunteer) - create sign-up forms for volunteers and item donations as needed for events throughout the year.

Outreach roles are not eligible to serve on the Executive Committee.

PA Committees

Committees are not a PA Board Member position commitment – they work to help support the work of the PA Board and the LFA community.

Admission Committee

(various one-day opportunities)

Seeking 10+ parents or couples to help with admission-related activities such as Open Houses and Accepted Student Days.

Athletics Concessions Committee

(fall, winter, or spring sports season)

Help serve a shift working in the LFA Concessions stand at an athletics home games.

Athletics Team Parents

(fall, winter, or spring sports season)

Seeking a team parent or couple for each athletic team during the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons; assist with communication to parents of athletes and in securing parent volunteers to donate snacks/beverages for games.

*New* Faculty & Staff Appreciation Committee

(various one-day opportunities)

Seeking 10+ parents or couples to assist with planning and supporting faculty and staff appreciation efforts throughout the year. Activities may include organizing treats, writing thank-you notes, and helping with events, including National Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

*New* International Student Host Committee

(ongoing throughout the school year)

Seeking 20+ domestic parents to serve as "home away from home" hosts for our international students during their time at LFA. Hosting can include inviting students to join your family for meals, holidays, and celebrations, as well as welcoming them into your home over school breaks (Thanksgiving, winter, and spring).

Parent Ambassador Committee

(summer and fall semester)

Seeking 40+ parents or couples to help onboard freshman and new transfer parents into the LFA community.
