Field Hockey - Varsity Girls vs. Highland Park

Event Type: Regular

Date: September 9, 2017

Event Recap:

Varsity Girls Field Hockey vs. Highland Park - 9.9.17

The girls were very excited to proudly represent Ferry Hall and wear their yellow jerseys for Reunion Weekend. Legend has it that LFA remains undefeated in the yellow and white and our girls continued that tradition as LFA defeated Highland Park 2 - 1 in double overtime.

Highland Park scored the first goal of the game on their third of six offensive corners in the first half. Going into the second half, LFA was still trailing 1 - 0. With only 7 minutes left in the half, Yvie Gerber connected on a pass from Lena Ansari in the circle to score the tie goal, sending the game into overtime. The first round of overtime game lasted 10 minutes with nonstop action. In the second round, Lena Ansari took a stick to the face early on and had to come off the field. Luckily, Assistant Athletic Trainer Kira Heckathorne helped Lena with her wound, letting her get back into the game to allow her to score the winning goal! Talk about grit!

Player of the game went to Suzie Newton for her offensive play. She showed a lot of heart and determination, perhaps because LFA was playing her old high school.
