Welcome to Caxology, a podcast for the LFA community. Caxology looks to create a stronger school community through stories of the past and the present, as well as ways we can all support and strengthen the school. The podcast is brought to you by LFA’s Richards & Tremain Society and is hosted by Garry Sloan, LFA’s Director of Individual Philanthropy.

This week’s Caxology Podcast features the 2022 Gala Chairs – Karin (member of the Board of Trustees) and Nick Fink P’22, ’23 and David ’91 and Avery Keller P’25.

The chairs discussed the return to an in-person Gala and this year’s Gala project: the Future Health Center.

On October 9, 2020, LFA held its first-ever virtual Gala in support of four new campus faculty apartments. This episode is a follow up to the Gala, which raised over $850,000 toward the $1.8 million dollar project cost. Host Garry Sloan speaks with Tom Johnson, LFA’s Dean of Faculty, who co-hosted this year’s auction. Sloan also talks to Ben Wetherbee, LFA Associate Dean of College Counseling. Listeners will also hear briefly from two alumni who were boarders during their time at LFA – Alex Zhou, Class of 2020 and Cedric Chong, Class of 2019.

In our first episode, we explore the namesakes of the Richards & Tremain Society - Eloise Ruthven Tremain (Ferry Hall principal, 1918-1945) and John Wayne Richards (LFA headmaster 1913-1941). Garry talks with Rita MacAyeal '87, Director of the Library and Archivist at LFA, to learn more about these stalwart figures of the school’s history.
