Parents Weekend Schedule 2019
Parents Weekend took place on October 18th and 19th, 2019. The schedule below reflects the 2019 series of events.
Friday
Visit the LFA Bookstore
Stop by the LFA Bookstore in the JC Cowart Student Center and pick up some Caxy gear!
1 - 4 p.m. – Registration
Reid Hall, Taylor Gallery, Pridmore Gallery
Pick up your registration materials and your child's/children's mini-class schedules. Grab a bite or cup of coffee on your way to mini-classes, then stop back later for a snack if you have a free period.
12 - 1 p.m. – Boarding Parent Luncheon
Garden Room of Reid Hall
An opportunity for boarding families to socialize and connect.
1 - 9 p.m. – Student Art Show
The Cressey Center for the Arts
Browse the visual arts exhibit created and displayed by LFA students.
1:30 - 4:25 p.m. – Classroom Connect - Mini Classes
Follow your student’s A-day schedule, abbreviated to 15-minute classes with 5-minute passing periods. Classroom locations and times are listed in your registration packet.
4:45 - 5:15 p.m. – State-of-the-School Address
Little Theater, Reid Hall
Join Head of School José M. De Jesús and members of the LFA Deans Council for an update on Lake Forest Academy. (Adults only, please.)
5:15 - 6 p.m. – Cocktails and Conversation with Head of School José M. De Jesús, the Parents Association Board, and the Deans Council
Garden Room, Reid Hall
Join the Parents Association Board, LFA’s Head of School and Deans Council members for casual conversation over cocktails and hors d' oeuvres. (Adults only, please.)
6 p.m. – Dinner in the Reid-Anderson Dining Room, JC Cowart Student Center
7 p.m. – Fall Play – Macbeth
The Cressey Center for the Arts
Join us for the fall play – Macbeth, Shakespeare’s famous “Scottish Play” where LFA thespians will demonstrate the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake.

As a part of the 2019-2020 Head of School Symposium: Global Poverty and Inequality, we will be reading the book Uneasy Street: The Anxieties of Affluence by Rachel Sherman.
9 - 10:30 a.m. – Global Connect - LFA Travel Opportunities

Learn about the opportunities your student has to travel while at LFA from Matt Nink, Executive Director of the Stuart Center for Global Leadership. (Open to students.)
10:30 - 11:30 a.m. – College Connect - College-Focused Parent Meeting - How LFA positioned me for success
Little Theater, Reid Hall
Meet young alumni who are successful college students or professionals and hear their advice for how your students can get the most from an LFA education. (Adults and students are welcome at this session.)

Dean of Communications, Grace Kim, will show parents how to get the most out of the parent portal and give tips on working with this system.

The JC Cowart Student Center will be open for dinner before the Co-ax Concert and the Arts Extravaganza.

LFA’s Choir and Orchestra will share the stage for this family-friendly entertainment!
