Lake Forest Academy welcomed back Rickey Larke ’11 on October 19 as a featured guest speaker to students in English and acting classes.
Rickey, a four-year boarder in Atlass, was a member of the football, track, and wrestling teams. In addition, he was a proctor, prefect, and wrote for the Spectator.
After LFA, Rickey matriculated at Bowdoin College, where he majored in government and Africana Studies with a minor in cinema. He has had internships with BET and HBO.
After college, Rickey moved to Los Angeles, California where he was a development assistant on such shows as "Game of Thrones" and "The Young Pope."
Most recently he was a show runner on "Black-ish" and is now a staff writer for "Grownish." He is also an independent filmmaker.
Rickey spoke to students about writing and about his professional trajectory post-LFA. He shared some very helpful advice with students about careers in the creative arts and the TV industry in particular.
A special thank you to Kerri McCaffrey, Matt Boresi, and Jamal English for hosting Rickey in their English and acting classes.
Rickey is a member of LFA’s Alumni Advisory Board (AAB) and Black Alumni Advisory Council (BAAC).
