Rebecca Makkai giving book talk in LFA library

Lake Forest Academy alumna and critically acclaimed author Rebecca Makkai ’95 was named a 2022 Guggenheim Fellow on April 7 by the Board of Trustees of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.

Rebecca, named one of Chicago Magazine's 50 most powerful women in 2020, was a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction for her most recent novel, The Great Believers, and the 2018 National Book Award while also named one of the New York Times’ Top Ten Books of 2018.

According to the foundation, “A diverse group of 180 exceptional individuals. Chosen from a rigorous application and peer review process out of almost 2500 applicants, these successful applicants were appointed on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise.”

Rebecca was inducted into the LFA Hall of Fame in September for her “Achievement in the Arts.”
