Allen Rivet, LPN joined the Lake Forest Academy community last spring as a nurse at the Health Center. Prior to joining LFA, Allen was a nurse with Northshore University Health Systems for seven years. Allen is originally from Louisiana and he has been living in the Chicago area for 10 years. He is a huge New Orleans Saints and LSU fan. He lives off campus in Wheeling, Ill., with his wife, Vianey, and daughter, Mayali.
Where did you grow up/where are you from?
I am from New Iberia, Louisiana. I lived there for 21 years and then moved to Chicago. They make Tabasco sauce where I am from.
Where did you go to college and/or graduate school?
I went to college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette but I completed my nursing at Northbrook College of Healthcare.
What has your career path looked like?
I was a CNA (nursing assistant) for six years working with alzheimer’s and dementia patients in a skilled nursing facility. I worked on a medical/surgical floor as a PCT (patient care technician) at Highland Park Hospital before finishing my nursing degree and starting at a general practitioner’s office. I worked for nine physicians for the next five years and then started working at LFA last spring.
Do you live on campus or nearby?
I live in Wheeling, Ill., where I recently purchased a home there.
What attracted you to LFA?
The vibe I got from everyone was amazing. Some places preach/talk about diversity but LFA puts it into practice. Anna Kliner, Director of Health Services, is really what attracted me as well. She is an amazing person to work for and I couldn’t be happier that I am here.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
I am most looking forward to getting to know the students better. I really want to make an impact with my job/performance and am really focusing on the students.
What are your favorite sports teams and hobbies?
I love sports and I am an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU fan. My hobbies are golfing, fishing, exercising, and gardening. I love to garden and take care of plants at home.
