Over 30 LFA students recently attended the Model United Nations of the University of Chicago (MUNUC) conference. Over 3,000 local high school students attended the four-day conference at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago.
MUNUC stands to help high school students from around the world become more active and informed global citizens. Students are presented with complex historical and modern-day issues and are able to build upon their public speaking, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
LFA had committee members representing a variety of different countries, which included Chad, Afghanistan, and Eswatini. These committees covered topics such as economics and finances; international security; social, humanitarian, and cultural issues; and crime prevention and criminal justice. Students also served on simulation committees, covering past and continuous issues, that focused on crisis-style debate to resolve the issue presented. Each student also received constructive feedback from delegate executives to help advance their growth.
2024 marked the 36th year of the MUNUC conference - LFA has participated in all 36 years.
