Lake Forest Academy's Fine and Performing Arts Department is excited to announce that this year's production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest, presented in October as the Fall Play, has been invited to be presented at the upcoming Illinois High School Theatre Festival (IHSTF).

The IHSTF is an annual conference in which students attend theatre workshops and watch selected productions from high schools throughout the state of Illinois. This year's festival will be held from Jan. 11-13, 2024 at Illinois State University.

"It's a great honor to have been selected, and with fully half of the cast and much of the crew consisting of first-term freshmen, a particularly impressive feat by our student actors and technicians," said LFA Theatre Director Matt Boresi.

The IHSTF falls in the middle of preparations for this year's Winter Musical, and the cast and crew will need to remount the show, bring the sets and costumes, and load everything into the theatre where they will perform for teachers and students from across the state.

Every year, about one-fourth of high schools in the state participate in the IHSTF. LFA last participated in 2020 with the production of MacBeth.
