Brendan Flaherty ’22 and Shaan Samra ’22 were named semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), approximately 1.5 million entrants from more than 21,000 high schools entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship program by taking the Preliminary SAT (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). Roughly 16,000 students qualified as semifinalists. To qualify as a semifinalist, a student must exhibit an exemplary academic record, submit a scholarship application, and earn a qualifying score on the SAT. The nationwide pool of National Merit semifinalists represents less than one percent of the nation’s high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
