About the Josh Rothstein Young Alumni-Student Networking Night
Joshua Aaron Rothstein ’05 was a sophomore at Lake Forest Academy when he was tragically struck by a car and died on Oct. 7, 2002.
After Josh’s death, his parents, Nancy and Steven Rothstein, established a memorial lecture in his honor at LFA. For 17 years, this lecture series celebrated Josh’s kind deeds, his entrepreneurial accomplishments, and the depth of character that he demonstrated daily in his interactions with family, friends, classmates, and strangers.
In 2020, the Academy and the Rothstein Family partnered to transform the lecture series, imbuing it with new life and direction. The Josh Rothstein Young Alumni-Student Networking Night debuted on March 4, 2020, at Lake Forest Academy.
The networking night, which has been part of the alumni events calendar since 2015, brings together young alumni professionals and current students to talk about college and careers. A budding entrepreneur and an ambitious young man, Josh would likely have attended this event as a student – and have participated as an alumnus.
The Academy is privileged to add Josh Rothstein’s name to this annual celebration. His legacy and spirit live on at LFA.
Nancy Rothstein recently published a book “Rising in the Mourning: Ways to Celebrate Life.” While the book was born due to the tragedy of Josh’s death, it centers on embracing life while people have breath and a heartbeat, even amidst its many challenges, whatever they may be.
