Lake Forest Academy boys golf coach Ben Wetherbee was selected as the Independent School League’s Co-Coach of the Year after leading the team to the ISL title on Sept. 20. The Caxys won the conference event by nine shots over second-place University High.
In addition to winning the ISL Championship, LFA also went a perfect 11-0 in dual matches this season. Among the dual wins, the Caxys defeated North Shore Country Day that finished seventh in the IHSA Class 1A tournament, Carmel that finished 10th in Class 2A, and Vernon Hills that was a state qualifier in Class 3A.
In addition to serving as head coach of the boys golf program, Wetherbee is LFA’s Associate Dean of College Counseling, a dorm parent in Atlass Hall and an assistant coach for the boys varsity basketball team.
