About

The J.C. Cowart Media Commons is an extension of LFA’s library. It reflects the changing role of education and 21st-century learning by providing an environment that supports critical thinking, project-based learning, and collaboration. Students can use the Media Commons for various activities from writing a paper, 3D printing, designing vinyl decals, film against a green screen, and recording a podcast. The Media Commons is both a fixed and flexibly scheduled space. Open to students for exploration and creation when no classes are scheduled. The DVD and Video game collection and various maker tools and equipment are housed here to spark innovation.

Vision

The Media Commons is a flexible learning space designed to facilitate access to current technologies and design skills and help blur the line between learning and recreation, work and play.

Recording Studio

The recording studio is located within the Media Commons. The studio has Logic Pro, Ableton, Garageband, and Adobe Create Cloud suite for music production, video creation, and podcasting. In addition, the recording studio has an electric keyboard, Yet and Snowball mic, box lights, and a green screen. Students and staff can sign up to use the recording studio.
