Enjoying the Great Outdoors
Having fun in the great outdoors is an activity that dates back through time to our earliest students. Student diaries and photographs document that from the earliest years at Lake Forest Academy and Ferry Hall students have enjoyed activities such as outings to the beach at Lake Michigan, bike riding, hikes in wooded areas, sleigh rides, and ice skating. Both schools had horseback riding clubs, and for many years the Academy had a sailing club which practiced right on the campus lake. In recent years, Lake Forest Academy had a tradition of calling off classes once a year for “Snow Fun Day”. Instead of going to class, students would enjoy organized games and activities outside in the snow.
