Amanda Byron | profile
Amanda "Mandy" Byron is in her fifth year at LFA, after having previously taught in public schools. She earned her BA in English and American Literature from New York University in 2009 and completed her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Wisconsin, in 2012. She is also publicly certified in Illinois and Wisconsin, licensed in both secondary and elementary education, with endorsements in English and social studies. While living in New York, she completed several professional writing internships at both literary and corporate institutions, including Scholastic, The New York Daily News, TIME Magazine, and Polo Ralph Lauren. She has studied abroad in both Australia and Italy, and while living in Florence, she taught English to Italian high school students. At LFA, Mandy teaches AP Language & Composition, English 9, and English 12: Multiliteracies. She is the assistant coach for Varsity Softball, serves on Curriculum Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Head of School Symposium, and she is the faculty advisor for LFA's Film Society and Paranormal Society. As a member of the residential faculty, she is a dorm parent in Field where she lives with her husband, Brett, and one year-old daughter, Rory.
William Dolbee | profile
Bill Dolbee is Associate Head of School and a member of the LFA History Department. He has a BA in History from Michigan State University and an MA in History from the University of North Carolina. Bill joined the faculty of LFA in 1984. He has two sons: Sam, LFA class of 2004, and Joe, LFA class of 2010. Bill lives with his wife Sue Peecher in Mundelein, Illinois.
Darrin Madeley | profile
Former NHL player and All-American Darrin Madeley is Director of Hockey Operations and the Athletic Director. Darrin started working at LFA in 2005 through the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP), an Ann-Arbor, Michigan-based organization that prepares student-athletes for participation on U.S. National Teams and careers in hockey. Darrin has worked as a goalie coach and assistant coach for the NTDP and has played professional hockey for the Ottawa Senators and the San Jose Sharks. He also played in Europe with TPS Turku (Finnish Elite League) and Rosenheim (German Elite League). Darrin has a bachelor’s degree in physical and health education from Lake Superior State University and a teaching certificate (K–12) from Saginaw Valley State University. Madeley coaches the prep hockey team at the Academy. He lives on campus in North Cottage as a dorm parent.
