Head Coach: Stephen Ryder | profile
Steve Ryder has been a member of the LFA Language Department since 1985 and served as Chair from 2009 to 2015. He has a master’s degree in Modern Languages from Cambridge University in England. Before joining LFA he worked as an English teacher in Lausanne, Switzerland for seven years. He teaches all levels of French and has also taught Russian and Latin. He is the director of Co-ax, the LFA student/faculty rock band, and is head coach of the JV boys soccer team. Steve works in Warner dormitory, living in Remson House with his wife Christine who works in External Relations, his daughter Madeleine (’15), his son Andrew (’17), and his dog Shadow.
Assistant Coach: Mathias Kerr | profile
Mathias Kerr has been a member of the science department since the spring of 2007 teaching both Biology 1, and Anatomy & Physiology. In his time at LFA, Mathias has been an active member of the community working as an adviser, a dorm parent, chaperon for school trips, coaching both JV and varsity football, wrestling, girls ice hockey. Currently he is JV boys soccer coach, and advises the competitive sailing club. Mathias received his Bachelor's of Science from Northern Arizona University where he also worked in an immunobiology research lab, and has published material. Mathias currently lives in Chicago, but will be returning in Fall 2016 as a residential faculty, and Dorm Head of Warner House.
